Prime Minister Narendra Modi cast his vote in the Vice Presidential election
Prime Minister Narendra Modi cast his vote in the Vice Presidential election. The election began at 10 AM in the new Parliament building. MPs arrived early in the morning to cast their votes in the Vice Presidential election. MPs from Kerala also reached the venue on time. The INDIA alliance stated that NDA MPs should vote according to their conscience. However, the BJP responded by calling the opposition’s appeal “shameful.” Voting will continue until 5 PM today.
The contest is between Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan and former Supreme Court Judge Justice Sudarshan Reddy. Both the NDA and INDIA alliance conducted mock voting yesterday to train MPs. Parties like Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) have decided to abstain from voting. The BJP leadership is maintaining strict surveillance to prevent cross-voting within the NDA camp. The YSR Congress has confirmed that there is no change in their decision to support the NDA. Meanwhile, the vote counting will begin at 6 PM.
